A Yellowing Leaf
A yellowing leaf quivers in the breeze.
Just waiting to kiss the Autumn grass.
A kissing leaf, pledged to die,
Rest in my stream, soak in my waters.
Bound for life another spring
on a greening tree, on a loving sea.
See it leaving, going adrift,
Pledged to die then to live.
But now she trembles in the wind.
Hovering, fluttering, a leaf turning reddish as it falls
knowing not if ground or sea
Lay below or await beneath.
A yellowing leaf quivers in the breeze.
